I have an intermitent problem with our washer. On 3 different occassions water has accumulated in the drum and then overflowed onto the floor. Last time was quite bad and ruined alot of wood flooring in 3 different rooms. Based on some internet research it seems I might be in need of an water intake valve? I don't mind attempting to fix it myself as long as it's not a super complicated fix. Anyone's thoughts? Thanks

Check to make certain that the water flow into the machine shuts off when the machine is shut off. If so, then clean out the water pressure tube that goes to the pressure switch. If it still has a problem try replacing the water pressure switch.
There should be some tech notes under the top or inside the lowe service panel that may help you in testing things, but with an intermittent problem you may just have to replace parts to check it out.

first, have you cleaned out the pump filter? that can cause a incomplete drain. Have you taken the top or back panel off to observe it during a cycle? There are many spots water can leak out. tub to pump, pump to drain, connector where internal and external drain tubes connect, vent hose to tub, pressure sensor line to airgap, o ring between airgap and tub, any of the dozen hoses inside as well as the entire inlet system. the bellow at tub front, as well as the drum itself. mine has had leaks where the nozzle ( y type connector) meets the soap dispenser. And a pinprick hole in the bellow. good luck. it only takes a few minutes to take off the top and back and kick plate (bottom front cover) just remember to not wear loose clothing and stay away from the drive belt during operation. and have a bright flashlight!
