my LG elec dryer suddenly began to thump..then stopped turning. Now it just has a hummm when turned on. We of course shut it off imediately! LG cust serv gave us no help. It is less than 3 yrs old, not over-used,very clean, vent is only 1.5 feet long to the outside(into the garage).
I underatand it is not belt driven but that is what it sounds like. PLEASE help!
Can we find diagrams of how to open it up to see what might be needed and what is a-miss?
Thanks Jeanne

Sorry but finding tech info on LG's is difficult to say the least and their website is useless. This is all that I could find perhaps it will be useful. http://136.166.4.200/contents/Laundry/DLG2524/DLG2524_Service_Manual.pdfThumping is often a bad rear support roller. Also check that the drum has not cracked, usually this happens on the seam. Perhaps it has broken the belt. The info on the model I did find has a belt switch which is usually mounted down be the motor/idler. If the belt breaks this switch kills power to the motor. With a little luck someone will jump in with info or experience on this model. |
