Recently our ice has been tasting like defrost from within the freezer. I have throughly cleaned inside and out and underneath trying to cover all bases. I replaced the clip on thermostat and the heater does work. Yesterday I ordered a new timer thinking it might possibly have bad spots in it and not defrosting often enough. I would appreciate any and all thoughts on my problem.

Try placing an open container of coffee grounds (about 1 cup) in the freezer aand leaving it there a few days. It should eliminate the freezer burn smell and taste.

I'm game. Coffee is in the freezer and fingers are crossed. Thanks for the advise.

Keep us posted. I'm told coffee also neutralizes odors in the car.

If the water and ice tastes bad from the refrigerator, in my case it was the line. I had brand new stainless steel braided lines to 2 refrigerators. The water and ice from both tasted bad.

Through a process of testing with filters, taste tests and elimination, the only thing I could come up with was the lines. Although they were new, and supposed to be the best lines, I bought new plastic lines and installed them.

The water and ice was instantly good.

If your water and ice tastes bad, and you have the newer stainless steel braided type line, change to the cheaper plastic type line!!!
