Dishwasher water is tepid.

We recently changed to a Rinnai tankless water heater and have hot water everywhere else in the house after about 45 seconds, but not in the dishwasher. The Rinnai is set at 140 degrees and is about 15 feet away from the dishwasher. The adjacent sink has very hot water.

The repair person said it was the Rinnai not heating the water enough, but the dishes were not getting properly cleaned before the HW heater change. It's just worse now.

What part on the DW needs to be replaced to pre-heat the incoming water to the proper temperature? How hard is this to fix ourselves? How much does the part(s) cost? Any other ideas on what might be wrong? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are you running hot water at the sink before you start the d/w? It is possible that the d/w is using less water than is in the pipe. The hot water is not getting to the d/w, just the cold water that was already in the pipe.
