I have a GSS25KGMDWW GE side-by-side refrigerator. Recently the heater burned. In order to use the refrigerator while waiting for the replacement part (I live in Brazil now, it takes months for the part to arrive) a local technician suggested that I could unplug it for one day, use it for 3 to 4 days and, when ice starts forming in the freezer, unplug it for another day and repeat the process. It worked for about 2 weeks, but then the motor of the evaporator fan stopped working. Now I got the replacement for the motor of the evaporator fan and for the heater. My QUESTION is: Is there any risk that a faulty motherboard could burn the newly replaced heater and motor of the evaporator fan ? I am asking because I am not sure whether a faulty motherboard was responsible for the problems in heater and the evaporator fan to start with.
Thanks. Paulo

You have it backwards, bad loads like the condensing and evaporator fan motors will blow out the triaks on the motherboard. The compressor and defrost heater are powered by a power relay on the motherboard, these relays rarely fail.

Thanks. So, once I replace the heater and the evaporator fan's motor, what should I check to see whether the motherboard is working fine or not ? It there a diagnostic test ?

No diagnostic test without expensive equipment.
