Hey all,

I'm pretty sure that this range is more than 10 years old; it was in this house when I moved in a bit more than 8 years ago. I am wondering how old it is, though. Is there a way to tell via the model or serial number? (SN is TL212905R).

This thing has been beeping constantly, showing an F1 error code. At first it would stop by pressing Clear, but now can only stop it by cutting the power.

From the information I've been able to find, it sounds like the ERC/control board/clock needs to be replaced. There was a tip somewhere about narrowing it down to the ERC or touch pad, but it appears to me these are built together in a single unit here. (PN WB27K5107)

Would a remanufactured part be okay for this range? Or would you all advise installing a new part?

It looks like with either, I will need to remove the plastic face - which appears to be glued on - and install on the new touch pad/ERC. Any tips on removing this face without cracking it? What type of adhesive to use to install it on the new unit?

Is there anything else I should look for on the range to prevent future problems with the new ERC? Or do these things "just happen?"

Thanks!
Keith

Keith,

The ERC for this model does not have a separate touch pad, so you were right narrowing the problem to the ERC itself.

Who did it? Does it come with the warranty?

There is no any special instructions on how to safely remove the face plate. Try to use a sharp knife and be careful. It is self adhesive and I do not know what to recommend. The white face plate is still available.

I do not think there are any other parts you have to replace together with the ERC.

- The ERC Part number: AP2025145

Thanks Gene,

The reman part I'm looking at is from Remanufactured Appliance Parts.
Warranty is 6 months for residential application. It's the original PN WB27K5107. $136 + shipping.

Just wondering if you or anyone have experience good or bad specific to reman'fd appliance parts. I know in other areas - tools, for instance - I've had good luck with reman'fd. In a way, I think they can be even better than new because they get a more thorough test.

Now that I think of it, I need to go see what the warranty on the new part is here at appliancepartpros.

Appliance Parts Pros guaranteed all parts for one year.

I can not tell you anything about the company you mentioned. Never heard about it.

I never worked with any re-manufactured parts unless it was done by the original manufacturer.

I really do not know which way is better.

Gene.
