I started dryer, went to do other things, checked later, dryer was shut off. I started to get clothes out and noticed they where still damp. I shut the door and pushed the start button, dryer did not start back up. All that happens is a humming noise when start button is pushed. The drum will turn when turned by hand. Any ideas?

This is the classic symptom of a bad motor, and given the age of your machine, the classic solution is to replace the dryer.

Thank you for the response. I tore into the dryer and found that the motor bearings have gone bad. It has been a great dryer, but due to the cost of a new motor, it's time for a new dryer. Thanks again

Well, you should get a nother 10 to 20 years or more out of your new one.
Thanks for the update.
