Hello, I am hoping that you can help me diagnose the problem with my refrig. It is a SxS approx. 4 years old.
It was working fine until a few weeks ago, we pulled it out and unplugged it to clean behind it. When we plugged it back in, it worked fine for a week or so, and then it started to get really warm on the top shelf of the refrigerator, and gradually colder towards the bottom. The freezer side started icing up on the back wall. My husband replaced the defrost thermostat, and that seemed to fix the problem for a week or so, and now we are having the same symptoms again. Do you think we could need a
new defrost timer or heater? Please advise, I can't keep throwing away my food!! Thanks! :)

If you look at the breakdown of your unit by clicking on your madel# from your first post, you'll see your defrost heater located in your freezer compartment.
Get access to it, remove at least one wire and check it for continuity with an ohm meter. If there is no continuity thru it then it's bad.
Those glass tube elements aren't known for their longevity.
