Hi.. I have a whirlpool eletric dryer model# LER8648PW0. Two days ago I put a load of cloths to dry and left for a couple of hours. When I came home the dryer was still running. I did the normal troubleshooting like checking circut breaker, power cord both to the outlet and leading from the dryer, thermal fuse, heating coil, everything has a charge to it. It runs but no heat. The coils are not getting hot. I have have used a voltage meter to check and have current to everything. Is my dryer stuck in the cool down cycle? Or what else can be the problem?
Thank You,
Dawn

Here's what I want you to do. Unplug the dryer, and put your meter on ohms. Take the back off, where the element is, and ohm it out, if you don't get a reading, replace the element. If you do, look up, on top of the heater housing, and you will see the thermal fuse, take the wires off, and ohm it out. It is going to be 1 of the 2 parts that I am telling you about. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Could also be one of the thermostats located on the heating chamber. With the dryer cool both of those stats should have continuity through them. If not the kit to replace them contains both parts. Usually the upper one will open due to the lower one getting weak.
Also, be sure to check that your vent line is clear.
