sears model 110 electric dryer

press the start button and the start switch just hums...not the motor...lights in the drum work...drum spins freely, but won't start up, even if I try manually spinning, holding the door switch, and pressing the start button

I'm thinking it's one of those thermal fuses (the one-time ones)...I think this dryer has two, but I can't find a diagram of where they are

I think I actually wired around one on the heating element tube a couple years ago (I have replaced/repaired the heating element 4 or 5 times)

anyone know where I can find picture/diagram/explanation of the parts and their locations on this unit?

The thermal fuse you are looking for is on the back side of the dryer. It is white in color, and about a half inch wide, by and inch and a half long, it will have 2 wires coming to it, and will be held in by 1 screw. Take the wires off and jump them out, and then plug the dryer in and see if it works. If so DO NOT RUN the dryer like that. That fuse is the only thing from the dryer burning down the house. Let me know how it goes. Tom ApplianceEducator.com - Parts

So I need to take the back panel off the dryer?...or can I reach it from the lower front panel access? (that's the only one I know how to take off)

ok I've solved it...I found the diagram here:

KENMORE | Model #11096293100 | DRYER FEATURE SHEET | SearsPartsDirect.com

and the bad part is the thermal fuse #59 which you get to by removing the front panel and then removing the lint duct assembly...I also got partially clued in from this guy's site:

Troubleshooting the Kenmore Elite Electric Dryer, Model 110 63932101 – techbuddy.us

so thanks everyone for the help!
