Wife washed rugs, one with rubber matting; during spin heard load bag and washer stopped. Inner tub rotates out of round, either shaft bent or mounts (is there any other than center shaft?) broken, Got it all apart but rear axle seems pressed into bearing. Online help says tub should lift out of rearr outer water jacket. How do I get the stainless inner tub out? Put up on blocks and beat on shaft? No where to hook puller or press that is not plastic. Please help.

Don't want to waste anyone elses time - turned the back half of outer water jacket so inner barrel facing down, supported plasting edges on wooden bench and knees in 3 places; tapped on end of shaft with lead shot ball peen hammer with small block of wood between; slid right out. GE front load washer started squeaking loudly during spin. Hey I would squeak too... we had loaded way too many bathmats and towels!
The basket rubbed the gasket at two opposing points. Midway between those points, there was a visible gap between basket and gasket.
Sure enough, the basket was warped: the innter diameter of the basket opening varied by 10-12 mm. For example when widest points were left and right, the horizontal I.D. was 395mm; vertical was about 385mm.
When you spun basket while holding a pointer steady at the edge of basket, it was easy to see how bad out-of-round it was.
I bent it back into shape using a heavy-duty 12" bar clamp as a spreader. You need a clamp you can convert to spreader by flipping one of the ends. If you dont' have heavy duty clamps, use two side-by side.
1. find the narrowest part of the opening, and mark the two opposing points on the basket edge with tape or marker. Do the same with the wide points.
2. measure the narrow I.D. precisely for reference
3. find a block of soft wood you can use at the "tail" end of the clamp/spreader. Has to be right thickness so the clamp's bar won't hit as you adjust the clamp.
4. On first try, I gave the clamp handle 6 presses, which spread the basket about 15mm. Then released clamp. The I.D. had changed about 2mm.
5. I did 3 more rounds of this, checking after each... and got the basket back to just about perfectly round, within 1 or 2mm!
Now the basket spins without noticable movement, and with no squeaking. AND... no repair bill.
Hope this can work for someone else too.
