Good afternoon.
First off, great site!, first time poster.
Problem: The ice cubes are not formed in a uniform shape. Some are regular size and others are small. The small ice cubes break upon impact when falling in to the ice container. The cubes freeze into larger blocks of ice.
Background: The ice maker has always given me problems. The fridge came with my house. When I bought the house, there was a hot dog bun bag in the teeth of the ice maker. I pulled the bag out, and had to run a water supply line to the fridge. It didn't look like the ice maker had been run for some time! I also replaced the water valve thinking that this could be the problem, but nothing changed after putting one in.
Of note: The cubes being formed in the center of the ice maker seem to be just fine. The cubes that are made towards the front and back (as I stand looking at the fridge) seem to be the ones that are smaller. There is no frost build up in the freezer at all. The fridge is level.
Thanks for the help! Jason

You might have a partially frozen filler hose. Just check it and measure the freezer temperature, may be too cold.

I'm going to raise the temp up a bit. Any suggestions on temp that it should be at? Or, possible other problems? Thanks!

I would pull the icemaker out and thaw the filler tube with a hair dryer.

Definitely melt the filler tube and the part causing the problem is the water valve - it is not opening and closing as it should (probably gunked up with hard water or something) and replacing the water valve will fix that problem

That is why I already replaced the water valve. I didn't think about having to thaw the filler tube, but I will be taking care of that and see what happens.
