Spin cycle was making a terrible noise and then just quit. Will restart but the noise is real bad and will not finish the cycle. Checked the coupler, it is fine and was replaced about 2 months ago.

With motor and pump off and turning the drive by hand (other end of coupler non-motor side):

on the drive, I can rotate it counter-clockwise indefinately with no problem. Clockwise it will rotate and then stop. I can not budge it. Also, when I try to move the agitator by hand, it is really frozen in place now. Agitator will not turn by turning drive train with motor disconnected.

Can you recommend a solution with parts required and a link to the procedure - or has it met its demise.

Thanks for past and current help.

There are three failure suspects: the clutch, the gear case and the basket drive.

Remove the gear case. Remove the clutch from the gear case and inspect the clutch and the bottom part of the basket drive.

Post your findings.

Thank you Gene. I removed the gear case. I was unable to remove the clutch from the gear case (even after the clip was removed), is there a trick?

When holding the clutch, and turning the coupling, it would not grab and jump as if it was stripped.

Both halves of the clutch look ok, but not sure I would know if it was damaged.

Is there some testing I can do?
