My Kenmore Quietguard is less than two years old. It now stops in the wash cycle but continues to heat. The dishes were sitting hot (and dirty) for hours before I noticed that it was not running. There are no blinking lights as indicated by other postings. Where do I start?

Your unit is actually a Frigidaire.

I could not find info specific to your unit but the following should be close or at least give you some info on how Frigidaire does things.
http://frigidaireservicetips.com/pdfs/462_8.pdf

I am assuming everything runs OK up until the unit hangs and that it ends up sitting there with water in the unit but will not advance.

I would remove power from the unit and check the heater and hi-limit thermostat for continuity.
If OK I would then check the thermistor.
