My stackable dryer started smoking yesterday, while my wife was doing laundry. Before turning the breaker off, I saw that the fault/error code on the digital display screen said E5.

This unit, distributed by Sears under the Kenmore brand name, has digital controls rather than buttons and knobs. I've searched the owner's manual and online, and can't find out what E5 means. Does anyone know? By the way, I'm not positive about the age of the unit, I bought it used.

Thanks!

I forgot to mention that it is electric, not gas, if it matters. Thanks-
