I have a Maytag Performa washer that will be 10 years old in March. The washer works really well until it gets to the spin cycle. This is supposed to be a large capacity washer. However, when the spin cycle starts, it works fine, but after a while, it seems to go off balance, and I have to stop it and rearrange the drum. Most often, when I reposition it, it will be OK, but sometimes, it seems to stay unbalanced through the whole spin cycle. It shakes the floor and makes a horrible noise when it does that. Anyone have any suggestions?

Remove the front panel and look for white plastic shavings, if so, you have a bad snubber under the tranny.
