first i removed the agitator (and the locknut that sits under it at the top of the tub, the one with the 4 square notches in it). then working from the bottom, i have removed the w pump, the three stiffener brackets and three bolts holding the transmisson to the baseplate. i then removed the transmission, belt, and idler pulley(the one directly under the center of the tub). the next piece looks like a shift fork, it and whatever shaft goes up the tub wont come out from the bottom. does it stick, or require a puller of some type, or do they rust together, or am i missing something? p.s. i am chasing 2 problems, weak, stoppable agitator, and loud noise on deceleration, it sounds like throwing a car into park while still moving. the transmission is also seeping oil, is it cheaper to reseal, or to replace? thanks, david

if you can stop the agitator, and the tranny is also leaking oil - it's gone.
good luck
