Ok so I have the fridge apart, it is already defrosted, What is my next move? The freezer coils froze up once before, I thawed it out and plugged it back in, 2 weeks later it was froze over. From reading posts here I figured it has to do with the defrost system.
I believe this model does not have a defrost timer rather it is controlled from the control board in the fridge. How do I rule out the less expensive repairs before I buy the $95 control board.

Yes, you are correct. The timer is built into the control board on your model.
Take a meter and OHM out the Defrost heater and make sure it is good. If it is, sounds like the control board is bad.
Also, while your in there, ohm the defrost thermostat attached to the evap. coil. Make sure when you do both of these checks, unplug fridge.
If you do end up replacing the control board, i would recommend replacing the defrost thermostat as well. Its not very much.
Also, keep an eye on your evap. fan motor. Make sure it's turning to full speed and not getting hot and shutting off.

These cal-rod heaters rarely fail, but check to see if it's burnt. If ok, remove the defrost thermostat clipped to the evaporator coil and temporarily short the wires.
Press the refrigerator light switch 5 times in 6 seconds, defrost now will be initiated and the compressor will shut down. If defrost now works, replace the defrost thermostat. If no action and compressor stays on, replace the elecronic module, AP4366538
You can now press the light switch 5 x in six seconds to put the fridg back in compressor run mode.
