I have a maytag dryer, LDE9804ACM. Last night the dryer stopped working after almost completing. When I opened the door, it smelled "hot"/somewhat electrical. My husband said it was was probably the thermal fuse, so he put a meter on both fuses and one was active and one dead. He replace the thermal fuse near the heating element and the dryer started working fine... so I finished my load and started drying another load. It did the same thing... stopped about 20 minutes into the drying process. I am suppose to investigate the problem, so any info is appreciated.

If your thermal fuse is blowing it is likely because the dryer is filled with lint and air flow is restricted. This causes the dryer to overheat and it would catch on fire and burn down your house (not really, well, it could happen) so the thermal fuse fails and shuts things down.
Open up the dryer and clean it completely, particularly the venting inside (and outside) and the inlet screens and everything else.
That should do it.
