I am trying to find out what kind of oil goes in the transmission of a direct drive Kitchen-Aid washer.

You can use 90 weight gear oil, but you will need to pull cover off tranny.
If not much oil leaked out, there would be no need to add oil.
If a lot of oil leaked out when spinning, your tranny is bad.
