I purchased a home recently and it came with Maytag gas dryer (Model DG712) that looks essentially new and little used. The location of the dryer was changed and it has brand new exhaust ducting and good flow. My problem is that the dryer heat (i.e.flame) cycles on and off because of the Hi-Limit thermostat on the flame chamber and it turns the flame off too soon, i.e. before there is adequately heated air. It takes 3 or 4 50 minute cycles to dry an average load. If I remove the Hi-Limit Thermostat from its position and just set it inside the dryer body, the dryer works fine. The thermostats turn the flame on and off and the clothes dry in a resonable length of time--about 50". So, I replaced the Hi-Limit Thermostat and the Flame Sensor with new parts--but--the dryer behaves exactly the same way! The flame actually reaches the Hi-Limit Thermostat so it does not surprise me that it triggers and turns off the flame. Could the flame be too hot or too large? The tips of the flame also reach the back of the dryer (on the inside). What components determine the size and temperature of the flame? I think the flame is too large. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you are using propane, you have a defective regulator on the bottle. If that's ok, you might have a gas valve orifice for natural gas and you are using propane.
