My latest problem is a tub leak that began to collect in the storage drawer mounted under the tub. I have not taken the skins off of this thing yet, so can only see the tub from the access cutout below the tub. It seems the tub is comprised of two sections which are bolted together. The seam has quite a a few gaps in the areas between the connector bolts, even though I really didn't see any leaks there while the unit was spinning. I did see water dripping from the two motor mounts which are raised knuckles and are part of the tub molding. I realize however that the leak can simply collect there and come from somewhere above where I cannot see. The drops were really falling from the bottom mount where a motor mounting bolt attaches so I went ahead and siliconed everything I could get to and of course that had no effect.

Where do I need to start looking for the source on this model?

Hi Steve,

Remove the rear cover to get a better view on what's going on inside.

Post your findings.

Gene.

Thaks Gene!
Actually I can't see the problem area from the back where the pump is. (I've gotten pretty familiar with that area!) The problem is near the door end of the tub. I can see the drips by looking up the 8" x 4" access hole under the machine at the front. I was thinking that I would need to get the whole shell off to see the complete tub seam. I am not even sure of the right way to do that yet. Am I way off base?

Steve,

Did you check the door diaphragm for any cracks? It could be very small.

Thanks Gene,

Do you mean the door seal? The seal has a sort of gap in the upper left corner where the rubber tucks in to the tub. It's sort of bunched up there where it was installed poorly at the factory. But the machine is 2 years old and did not leak before. I also can't yet picture how everything is put together. I thought the seal just directs water back into the tub. I have been assuming that the water is leaking out of the tub somewhere, especially since at least one of the leaks appears at the upper motor mount.

We probably are talking about the same part and I've seen many times a very small (almost invisible) holes in this door diaphragm.

I would recommend to check it very careful.
