I turn the oven on and control panel shows preheat cycle. Oven preheats fine but the oven won't maintain set temp. For ex. we set the oven for 350 deg. After preheat cycle, control panel shows 350; thermometer placed inside oven reads 350. 20 min later, control panel shows 350 but thermometer in oven reads 185 deg. Also, do you know where I can find a repair manual for this oven?

Thanks so much!

Jane D,

I am having a similar problem with a KitchenAid double oven (different model than yours). Did you ever determine the cause of the problem? Is the oven repaired and working normally now?

Thanks.

There was a short in the heat element which caused it to be always on. Call Kitchenaid; this is a liability issue because it could cause a fire in the cabinet if it gets too hot. They paid for the labor to replace the element and I paid for the parts.

I hope you don't mind if I ask one more question. Your original post seemed to indicate that an element was NOT coming on because the oven was not maintaining the proper temp. But in your recent reply, above, you say that the short in the heating element caused it to be ALWAYS on. I would have thought that an element always on would cause an overheated oven. Am I missing something?
Thanks again!
