The washer spin or wash cycle does not work. There was a hum from the motor and it was not spinning. I removed the belt and the motor works without the belt. I can only get the agitator to spin in one direction when you try to move it manually. Is this a bi-directional motor? Or is the problem in the transmission somewhere?

Did you try the motor on the spin and the agitation? The motor is reversible and the direction depends on the cycle.
