Is there a better way to check the temperature control selector switch when it is out of the circuit. I suspect the switch is bad, but I get irratic readings when I make continuity checks with a DVM. I had to replace the thermal switch, but the dryer still won't start.

I replaced the temperature selector switch and when I tried to start the dryer, it buzzed a couple of seconds then quit. I did smell something burning. I checked the resistors on the plug (two violet wires) and the're ok. I'm beginning to think the motor might be the problem. Any other suggestions before I go to all the trouble to check the motor windings?
