I Have A Maytag Frontload Washer With Model # Mah4000awh And Serial# 40321469wh. We Purchased It In The Fall Of 1999.
When The Washer Goes Into The Spin Cycle It Makes A Very, Very Loud Whirling Noise Until It Is Completed! Could This Be The Drive Motor. It Sounds Like Bearings Out On A Motor.
Is This Replacable And What Would The Part # Be!
Thanks,
Bill

It is likely the rear bearings. When the rear seal fails water gets into the bearings and they deteriorate.
This is an expensive repair as it requires buying the rear drum, so I suggest you gives thanks that you got this much service out of the very troubled Maytag Neptune and replace it.
If you really want to tackle it look at some sites that advertise replacing Maytag Neptune bearings.
