The evaporator coil on my Hotpoint side-by-side fridge is divided into two secions. There is a single defrost heater under the bottom section. However, the parts drawing shows 2 heaters-one under the bottom coil and one between the two coils.

Any ideas why I only have one heater?

As you can see the 2 heater system is an upgrade to the original single heater.
