Oven displays error message "F-4" and beeps on oven and broil when oven gets hot. Pressing cancel button and resetting temperature sometimes works for a while, but eventually starts beeping and displaying "F-4".
What does error message mean, and what part is failing

The "F4" error code means shorted oven temperature sensor. Measure the oven temperature sensor resistance at the control board plug. It suppose to be about 1100 Ohms at the room temperature. If the reading is wrong, remove the oven, remove the rear cover and measure the oven sensor resistance at the sensor plug. Replace the sensor if it's wrong. If the reading at the sensor plug is good then the problem is a bad sensor plug and/or wires. If the reading at the control board is good then the control board has to be replaced. - The part number for the oven temperature sensor is AP204836 The oven control board is no longer available. Here are the break down diagrams for the Maytag oven Model CWE9000ACEGene.
