Does anyone know how to convert a standard chest freezer to run -35 to -40 ? I know it's being done. looking to getting into selling cryogenic frozen ice cream. Supplier wants to sell me there freezers that they convert , and I'm looking at ways I can cut the bottom line! They wont share that info.... Military secret I guess Thanks for any help!

Not for DIY'ers. The equipment alone to do system work correctly will set you back over $800.00. To make a freezer colder by that much you'd need a higher performing compressor for sure, and maybe a upgraded condensor, and evaporator as well. I don't know the details it's never come up in my residential business. Sealed system isn't something you can just do, and you're talking about expert level work. It takes a lot of practice just be get comfy. I'm guessing you'll need something you can rely on. So unless you're an HVAC guy accustomed to working on systems that small you'll have to cough up the cash to the refer superchager folks.

Thank You for responding! I wasn't planning to do this , I would hire out, I've kinda figured out (with help) that they must be changing out freon to R404A? and by-passing thermostat or changing out thermostat to ultra low stat. They pay the electric. These freezers end up in like Hockey rink concession stands etc. Thanks Again!
