My dryer won't turn on and I hear a humming sound (the same as usual when you turn on), but the drum does not rotate.
It started after the outside temperature dropped below zero (Celsius), which I suspect contributed to the problem.

It could be a couple of things at the top of the list.

The belt is broken. In this case the unit will heat up and blow air but the drum will not turn.

The motor is not starting.
This may take two people.
Open the door and hold the door switch closed.
Push the start switch and at the same time rotate the drum in the correct direction manually.
Watch your knuckles in case it starts up.

If it starts stop it and rotate the drum. It should rotate fairly easily.
This checks to be sure the drum is not jamming up for some reason.
If OK
The most common causes are a blown motor or a motor that is clogged solid with lint.
