hi, I have just replace 53-0771 and 53-1107 thermostat(s)...hoping for it allow the dryer to restart during drying. no luck. yes old dryer. dryer works fine if you do not open the door during the drying mode. but if you open the door, then press the control button to restart...a buzzing noise comes basically directly from the control button and dryer will not restart...once we allow the dryer to cool / set for about 15 minutes dryer will restart.

Let me tell you what I think is happening here. Your motor is failing, either because it is overheating from dryer lint or it is just beginning to fail. When the dryer is running the airflow is enough to keep the motor cool enough to run, but when you open it up, the venting stops, the motor heats up, the thermal protection shuts it down and it will not run. After 15 minutes of so it has cooled down enough to start up again.
I would take the dryer apart and thoroughly clean the inside and the venting, both inside the dryer and the outside vent. Make sure you get all the lint out of the inside of the dryer and around the motor.
Try it again and see if that fixes it. If not, you will probably need a new motor, or just have to stop opening the dryer when it is running.
