No water going to the ice maker. The water valve is working because the
water pressure will cause a leak were the hose is attached at the top before going into the freezer compartment.

there should be a tube that lets the water flow into the icemaker - check to make sure that tube did not freeze over. if it froze over then thaw it out and replace the water valve. if that happened then it happened because the water valve was not closing all the way and allowed 1 drop at a time to leak through which would flow slow enough to let it freeze in that tube. from your decription of how it leaks this sounds the most likely to me
