Maytag dryer not heating. Purple wires between heater and thermostats burned off the connector. Is this a thermostat problem? The problem started when the purple wire going from the heater to the first thermostat burned off, I reconnected it thinking it just broke off, then both purple wires burned off the connector to the thermostat on the heater side. I do not have a wiring diagram for your model, so I can only give you a gut feeling which is that your heating element is grounding to the frame and drawing current which is burning the wiring. Check the heating element and see if this is the cas.

Be sure to have the machine unplugged as you work on it.
