My Whirlpool washer makes a loud noise (like a generator) when it goes into the Rinse Cycle and Spin Cycle. The basket does not move during the Spin Cycle and the loude noise (like a generator) does not go away until the cycle completes.

What do you think is wrong with it and what parts do you think I need to replace.

Also, is it possible to send me some instructions on how to replace the parts.

Thanks, KM

Take a look at the sticky by Richappy on Direct Drive Brakes at the top of this page and see if that will help you out. Sounds like a problem in the transmission or brakes. Use the instructions to take the cabinet off and listen to the machine in spin mode (you will have to by-pass the lid switch)

You can click on your model number and get exploded views of your machine with parts and their costs.
