I'm having a hard time getting parts in my area. It seems like one of the major appliance parts houses doesn't want to sell start relays. I installed a 3 n 1 on a refrigerator yesterday and want to order the right part. The guy at the parts house kept asking me why I want a relay for. That the compressor is already on its way out, and it will only last two days if I put the relay in. He said that a bad compressor causes the relay to fail. He then said a 3 n 1 would only make the compressor last 2 weeks. I can understand a start relay failing, if a compressor is pulling high amps on start up, but the relay is a mechanical part and subject to failure on its own. He was actually getting frustrated that I wanted to order it. Have you guys heard of this before? I might be really lucky, but I have never condemned a compressor because a relay was shot. I've replaced put on relays and 3 n 1 with great success. The reason I'm going with the OEM part this time is because the compressor is below 1/4 horsepower, and I have time to get the actual part.
Also, the parts guy said I need to order the start relay and overload. They are two separate parts. The part I have had the start relay and overload in one part. The capacitor was separate. I'm thinking about just ordering it from this site. I just need confirmation of the right part and that there isn't something I'm missing.

What does the 5 speed signify?
Does anyone know the horsepower rating of this compressor? Embraco EGU60HLC

Never condemn a compressor just for a bad start relay. Yes a bad compressor can cause the start relay to fail but most of the time it is just a bad start relay. If you replace the start relay and the compressor still will not start you have a bad compressor. As for the 3-in-1 I think we covered that very well in the last thread :). It seems that part number you gave is the correct part for your refrigerator. Refrigerator repair guide
