Hi, yesterday my Maytag refrigerator (model# MFD2560HEB) stopped cooling. The freezer is still appears to be working fine. It seems as though there is air coming through the cooling vent(s) in the fridge as though the fridge cooling system is not turning on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

There is a common problem on this product. This is a Amana made Maytag. If you open up the freezer door, and push you food out of the way, you will most likely see a frost build up on the back wall. If you do, there is a part mounted on the top of the evaporator coil, that will be the problem. It is called a defrost thermostat. It is about te size of a quarter, and has 2 wires coming out of it. If you want to get by for the weekend. Unplug the refrigerator, and open the freezer door, and take the food out and the icemaker out, and then remove th back panel. Get a blower dryer and defrost the whole coil, then put it back together, and that will give you perfect cooling for about 5 days, then the condition will reoccur. Let me know how it goes. Also ber sure the fan is running in the freezer. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
