This is the dreaded communications error. It is dreaded because the machine does not give a specific diagnosis. What happens is that your central control board is not getting the signal that the motor is turning, so it shuts things down.

Problem can be the Central Control Unit, Motor Control Unit, wiring, and even the door lock assembly.

Start with checking the wiring to see if there is a break or frayed short on the wires between the CCU and the MCU. Also, find the tech notes if you have not already done so, they will be under the top cover or inside the lower service panel and see if you can do further diagnosis.

At the end of the day you may have to replace the MCU and hope that the new board fixes things. That is why the Service truck is full of replacement boards, the tech just keeps replacing until it works, but of course we cannot do that.

Good luck.

See if this service manual for a Whirlpool model is close enough to your machine to help.

Again thank you for the info. It is almost exact to my model. The manual is not inside the machine. I bought this from Sears outlet so who knows where it went. I will keep this in my favorites for reference..
I did notice after checking all wires to the MCU and even cleaning terminals with electric cleaning spray the F-11 code comes right after the wash cycle drains. There is a 4-5 second pause, no drum movement and the code blows.. seems like it is waiting for instructions for the next step which would be the rinse water to be introduced to the tub. I dont want to bore you but is that the first step I should take is to replace the mcu board?

That's is what you would expect from a failed MCU. The Control Unit is telling the Motor Control to start spinning the machine. When the Control Unit is not informed that the machine is spinning, it shuts down and displays the error code.

Hopefully a new MCU will fix things. Let us know how it turns out.
