I have a Kenmore dryer that is no longer heating. First thing I did was remove the drum and start the dryer while watching the igniter. It did not get warm so I replaced. Same thing happened - no glow.
Checked the sensor on the left side of the burner tube and it has continuity. Next I pulled the thermal fuse and it has no continuity. Appears that that will need to be replaced.
First question, can I put a jumper on the thermal fuse leads just so that I can verify that the igniter is working? Will only run it long enough to verify that the igniter will glow.
Second question, is there anything else I should check for?
Thanks Peter B

The thing to look for is a clogged vent, or in the back you can take off the vent housing, on the left side, if you are behind the dryer. There are four 5/16th screws holding it in place. You will also have to pull the lint filter out and remove the 2 phillip head screws. You might even have to pop up the top to pull it out, and put it back in. Alot of times there is a good amount of lint build up there. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
