Timer won't advance at all. When advanced manually all cycles work OK. Do I need to buy a new timer?

Probably so, but first take off your timer and check the contacts and the wiring, particularly those two black wires. Make sure all the connections are clean and tight. If you still have the problem replacing the timer will probably solve your problem. Here is the part, fortunately not too expensive for a timer. Part number: AP2108034
