I need a new timer for my Maytag (LAT8606AAE). The timer in my machine is part # 6-2096690, but I can't find that one anywhere (except used on ********). But I found a timer on this website that I thought would work. It's part AP4028527 (Part Details - WHIRLPOOL TIMER, part number: AP4028527). But when I called to confirm, your parts department told me to get AP4028528. I can't even find that part on the website.

If AP4028527 would work, I'd prefer that because 1) it's in stock, and 2) it's about $70 cheaper.

Can someone tell me whether timer part AP4028527 will work in my LAT8606AAE?

Thanks!

The problem you are having is that Maytag did a lot of variations under your model type, and getting the right timer for your machine is not easy. In fact, I have come up with a third possibility. Also had a similar problem with a person posting several days ago, finally got it straightened out.

Part number: AP4026363
Part number: AP4026363

The timers are not interchangeable. APP should be able to match up the correct timer based on your serial number (did they ask for it, if not make sure they have it). If they send you the wrong one get a confirmation from them that they will take it back and send you the right one.

Look at the photos of the three timers and try to see which matches up best with yours.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, they asked for my serial # and, based on that, they said they could only guarantee that AP4028528 would work. They would send AP4028527, and allow me to return it if it didn't work, but I didn't want to mess-up my machine worse by trying a part that wasn't compatible. Based on your response, I guess the best thing to do is pay the extra $ for part AP4028528, and wait for it to get out of back-order.

Thanks again.

Sounds good. I think you will know if the timer they send you is not correct since it will not match up good with your connections and your knob. This is just one of the many things Maytag stopped doing right.

Let us know how things turn out.
