My dryer is making a loud noise and a burning smell, I changed the belt but that had nothing to do with it and when I turned the dryer on with the back open it was very noisy. It almost sounds like the moter might be making the noise, like it is working really hard to turn the drum. I also tried spinning the motor by hand with the drum out and it wasn't spinning very easiliy. So do the motors spin really easy if they are good and do the bearings make a squealing noise instead of loud hum? I'm hoping its the bearings and not the motor, but I just don't know.

The noise was coming from the motor. I got the motor to turn on without the belt hooked up. Thanks anyway.
