I'm usually good at repairs, but this one has me stymied!
The top of the door handle broke away from the door. I purchased a replacement handle and have attempted to remove the old handle, but to no avail.
On the inside of the door, there's only ONE screw and it leads to the top of the handle that brok away. No other screws are visible, ANYWHERE! I've removed that screw and attempted to swivel the handle by its bottom, hoping that some flange might become disengaged and allow it to separate from the door. Nothing happens! :o
Can someone PLEASE show me what to do?? Also, if a schematic can be provided, it would greatly assist me.
My thanks in advance.

Hi Sandy, I never replaced the door handle on this microwave but, as shown on the break down diagram, the door handle somehow is attached to the door bracket (#1808) and than to the door itself. Unfortunately there is no manuals available on line - only the breakdown diagrams. Maybe somebody else on the forum has better experience with this model. Here are the break down diagrams for the GE microwave Model JVM1340BW02Gene.

There is a frame around the inside of the window that you can pop out. Use a flat blade like a kitchen knife. The bottom screw is under the strip.
