my mom has a kenmore fridge. It is one that has two full length doors. The other day I thought I heard something funny coming from the freezer. When I stuck my head in there it sounded like water sizzling on hot metal. Then I noticed at the bottom I could see a orange glow shining through the vent at the back. I immediatley unplugged the fridge. I emptied the freezer and took of the back panel. I know nothing about refridgerators, but this is what appeared to happen. there seems to be some sort of water leak. The water is going down the metal cooling "coils". At the bottom is a noticably hot heating element that is protected above by a v-shaped peice of metal. I think thats what the water was hitting when it was making the noise, and in turn caused it to glow red. BUT WHERE'S THE WATER COMING FROM??? HELP PLEASE also the ice maker is not used and not hooked up to the water.

The water is coming from the defrosting evaporator coils. If excessive, you might have a leaking/overflowing ice maker.
