When I turn my washer on, it fills with water, agitates for about 2-3 minutes and then stops. My husband pulled off the cover to reveal the electrical connections and nothing seems to be burnt. We checked the connection to the lid switch and it is tight.

From what I've read on here, it sounds like the timer. But then I've also read it's usually not the timer!!! Any ideas???

The motor may be overheating.

If you wait a little while will it come back on?

If you turn the timer back a little will it come back on?

Turn the timer to spin and see if it does the same thing.

Post what you find.

It only comes back on if I spin the knob and put it in the same exact position, right where it starts the agitation cycle. And I can do that repeatedly, so I wouldn't think it's overheating??? It agitates for 2 to 3 minutes and shuts back off.

Nothing happens when I put it on spin.

That is what I meant by turn the timer back.

It does sound like the timer is bad but a loose connection is possible.

This has a two speed motor. I am not sure about your model but most have a high agitate then "after a few minutes" low agitate. If the low agitate(speed) is burnt out, it will do nothing. Your model may also have "spin speeds." Check to see if both the high and low speeds work. ie put it on heavy/normal to see if it spins, then try perm press or delicate spin to check. If one of the spins works and the other doesn"t, one of the motor speeds is burnt out and the motor needs replacing. The motor speeds directly relate to both the wash and spin cycles.

After reading some of your other responses on here, we decided to change out the lid switch (being it was one of the cheapest fixes to try) and forever whatever reason, that fixed it. The lid switch was making a clicking sound as if it was still working, so we didn't think that was broken - but, hey, what do we know?!?!?!

Thanks so much for your help on this!
