Hello,
I would like to know if anyone could help anwser a few questions for me please?
I have an Avanti cf-49 small chest freezer. It will not get cold. The compressor seems to be running. It gets hot to the touch. The coils in back are clean as well as under the unit. The power light is on and the fast freeze switch lights up too.
Is it possible the thermostat is bad? I understand it prolly will cost more than it's worth if the compressor is bad or if it has a leak to get it fixed.
Is it time to send this thing off to it's resting place?
Thank you for your help.

I can’t tell by the model number but if it is a manual defrost freezer and the compressor is running but not cooling chances are it is the compressor or it has a leak as you say. It is a chance the temperature control is cutting it off to quick but if that were the case the compressor would stay off a lot. However if it is a frost-free model post back because there are a number of things it could be. Manual Defrost Freezer Repair Guide

Hello,
Thank you for the reply. It has to be manually defrosted. I tried bypassing the thermo stat last night and it still dont get cold. I believe it is time to send it to rest.
Thank you HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
