I have an Amana fridge that won't cool down and the freezer is working overtime. I opened the freezer and then removed the backwall access panel and had to defrost the coil with a hairdryer was all froze up. I would like to know what possible avenues I need to take from here. Thank you for your help.

Try to force a defrost cycle.
With the evaporator coil cover off check if the defrost heater comes on.
If it does the board is probably toast.

If it does not:
remove one wire from the heater and check it with a meter, shoul be around 30 ohms.
If OK
Remove one wire from the defrost thermostat and check it with a meter, should be 0 ohms when frozen. Note it must be frozen as it opens just above freezing.

I would also run the diagnostics to check the thermistors etc. and/or measure them with a meter.
