We purchased a Maytag Heavy Duty Commercial Quality Washer/Oversize Capacity Plus/Lifetime Tub/Quiet pack/4 Speed Select/24 Cycles Legacy Series from Loews. That was my first mistake. They seem to have a penchant for selling stuff which you never see on the floor the following year. The agitator in this thing is a piece of JUNK! I went on the web and found many negative comments about Maytag products. After talking to a parts guy in town, I learned that ours was built by Speed Queen, had Whirlpool parts and is sold by Maytag. Jeez Louise! Another site points out that Maytag was bought by Whirlpool. Great; that explains a lot. I've become highly "agitated" at Maytag about the design of this agitator. The plastic vanes at the bottom keep breaking off. Maytag asked "Well, how much are you putting in the washer?" It's supposedly a "Heavy Duty Commercial Quality Washer" with "Oversize Capacity Plus". What else need I say about it? Did they put the word "Legacy" in the name to give you the "warm fuzzy's" over the old Maytag product line? It sure hasn't lived up to the reputation. I contend that their "vane" design is crummy and I have never had an agitator loose its plastic parts while washing clothes. I found a Speed Queen design with the exact same type of vanes BUT they were a "new design", with the vanes molded integral with the spirals going up the agitator and not connected with a 1" high rib at the base. Unfortunately, the base is a smaller diameter and I am sure that it would not fit the Maytag. Not an option. After 5 irate emails back and forth with Maytag, they offered me a "discount" if I buy the part from their parts center. The discount takes some of the sting out but I am holding my breath waiting for more problems to emerge. After investigating the other problems inherent with this model number, I just cross my fingers that they don't crop up. The corporate charlatans at Whirlpool have defiled the old, good name of Maytag, which used to stand for something. tkokkinos attached the following image(s):

Thanks, sidfink43, for the manual. I appreciate it and certainly hope that I do not need it. Maybe I can use it to start the fire when I throw the washer in my fire pit!
Honestly, a consumer has to be part Sherlock Holmes and Magnum PI to figure out what NOT to purchase nowadays. You don't know what reviews and sources to trust. Next time I buy something like this, I will check this site for feedback.
Thanks again!
