Hello,

I am trying to install a new motor in my GE electric dryer. When I tested it, it started to smoke. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong? I have a GE model #DDE7108PMLAD. Did I wire it correctly? My old motor had an external switch and the new motor has an internal (built-in) switch. The old switch was a form T, and the new switch is a form V.

On the instruction sheet, it shows connections for 6 wires, but my dryer only has 5 wires, which doesn't have the #3 wire, and where a #3 wire should go on the new motor the terminal is cut off underneath the hole. I am including a picture of the motor showing how I have connected the wires. I am also including a picture of the instructions I received with the motor. Please let me know if you need more information or a different angle of the motor or if you have any trouble seeing the pictures. The wires from my dryer are as follows: the pink wire is #2, the black wire is #1, the orange wire is #6, the yellow wire is #4, the blue wire is #5.

Thank you!
