I have new water and ice levers that I want to put on; how do I get the old ones off?

The first thing you have to do is remove the front dispenser cover.

It can be removed by inserting a small flat screwdriver blade into the two slots on the bottom side of the cover. By gently turning the blade, the cover will snap free at t he bottom and can be slid upward to be removed.

Now you can access the levers.

Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool refrigerator Model ED5CHQXKT00

I just got the part for my Sears -Kenmore sidebyside fridge. both the water and ice dispenser push plastics were broken. The steps to remove the front cover listed by GENE were correct for my Kenmore also. flat-head screwdriver to the bottom two notches on the outside of the fridge. control panel pops up and loose. Be careful to unhook the cable (pull dow gently on cable). Next, three phillips head screws allow the latches to tilt out (again, be careful-not to far). Use a magnetized phillips to remove the screws and tiny retainers that hold the two latches in place. A little bit aof wiggling and you should be back in service. The whole thing should be done with the fridge unplugged and with the freezer door closed....easy. It took me about twenty minutes and was painless. If I had these directions when I started...10 minutes.
