I have a MAH6500AWW washer that works fine until the timer shows 8 minutes. It then switches to 7 and quickly goes back to 8. It does not progress further. The only way we can get this load done is stop it and then select the final rinse only. What is causing this problem?

Here is a Maytag Tech bulletin which may or may not cover your problem.

If it does not, and because your problem is at a constant time I doubt if it will, use this service manual (your machine is discussed at the end, it is an LED mode type) to try to troubleshoot it.

I suspect at the end of the day you will need to replace your main control board, but since it is expensive and the diagnosis is not certain try to learn what you can from the diagnosis mode.
